NeuraSim: Gamifying Eye Care with AI to Treat Lazy Eye in Just Weeks

NeuraSim, a Bengaluru-based healthtech startup, is redefining the treatment of amblyopia (lazy eye) in India with its cutting-edge, AI-powered vision therapy app, BeeVee. Founded in 2022 by Dr. Ramesh S Ve, Girish Somvanshi, Aviral Dwivedi, and Maciej Kossowski, NeuraSim’s mission is to make eye care accessible, engaging, and effective for all ages.

Traditionally, amblyopia is treated through methods like eye patching—a process that can be slow, uncomfortable, and often discouraging for children. Recognizing the need for a more engaging solution, the NeuraSim team developed BeeVee, an immersive therapy platform that uses AI and interactive games to improve visual acuity and brain-eye coordination. The therapy is non-invasive, gamified, and designed to ensure higher compliance and better outcomes than conventional treatments.

Since its launch, BeeVee has been adopted by top eye hospitals such as Aravind Eye Hospital (Madurai), Eye Foundation (Coimbatore), and Kasturba Hospital (Manipal). NeuraSim has also introduced home therapy options, enabling patients to access advanced care from the comfort of their homes. Clinical results have been promising, with many patients showing mild to severe improvement within just 1–3 months—a significant leap in the treatment of amblyopia.

NeuraSim’s innovative approach has attracted both industry and investor interest. The company received ₹45 lakh in funding through the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and additional support from BIRAC, helping to accelerate its R&D and market reach. In early 2024, NeuraSim gained nationwide recognition after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 4, where the founders pitched for ₹1 crore in exchange for 8% equity. While the sharks acknowledged the app’s potential, concerns over product readiness meant a deal wasn’t secured. However, the exposure brought new opportunities and valuable feedback from industry leaders.

Looking ahead, NeuraSim is working on expanding its product portfolio with technologies like Neurametry (AI-powered eye tracking for glaucoma and neurological screening), NeuraSport XR (performance tools for athletes), and NeuroXR (EEG and XR-based neurotherapeutics). The company is poised to lead India’s digital therapeutics space, aiming to improve early diagnosis, patient outcomes, and accessibility for millions.

By combining advanced AI, medical expertise, and a patient-centric approach, NeuraSim is setting new benchmarks in eye care—one game at a time.
